About Paperboy
World Newspaper Directory — Est. 1997
What We Do
Paperboy is one of the world’s oldest and most comprehensive newspaper directories, connecting readers with more than 11,000 newspapers from nearly every country on Earth. Whether you’re looking for a local paper from a small town or the front page of a major national daily, Paperboy helps you find it.
Beyond the directory, we publish today’s front pages from leading US and UK newspapers every day, alongside AI-powered analysis that shows how each paper frames the news, where they sit on the political spectrum, and what stories they choose to emphasise or ignore.
Our History
Paperboy launched in 1997 — before Google, before social media, and at a time when finding an international newspaper online required knowing exactly where to look. Founded by Ian Duckworth in Australia, it was one of the first newspaper directories on the web, hand-curating links to publications that were just beginning to establish an online presence. We’ve been maintaining and expanding it ever since.
Over nearly three decades we’ve grown from a simple link list into a full media intelligence platform, adding front page archives, political spectrum analysis, daily podcasts, and more — while keeping the core directory free and open to everyone.
Online since 1997
From a hand-typed list of URLs to an AI-powered press platform — see how Paperboy has evolved over nearly 30 years.

Who We Are
Paperboy is an Australian business (ABN 91 362 713 390) operated by a small independent team passionate about press freedom, media literacy, and giving readers direct access to the world’s journalism.
We are independent — we have no affiliation with any newspaper, news organisation, political party, or media conglomerate. Our analysis reflects AI-generated observations about editorial patterns, not editorial opinions of our own.
How We Work
Our newspaper directory is maintained through a combination of automated monitoring and manual curation. Each entry is verified for accuracy — we check that URLs are live, locations are correct, and publication details are up to date. New newspapers are added on request or through our own research.
Our daily editorial pipeline begins each morning with the collection of front page images from major UK and US newspapers. These are analysed using Google’s Gemini AI to identify lead stories, headline framing, political positioning, and editorial emphasis. A cross-paper comparison highlights where papers agree, diverge, or omit stories entirely. This analysis feeds into our daily podcast (produced via AI-assisted script generation and text-to-speech) and our Paper Trail story tracker.
While AI powers the analysis, the selection of sources, the design of editorial prompts, and quality review are guided by our team. We are transparent about AI’s role: our goal is to surface patterns in how the press covers the news, not to offer editorial opinions of our own.
